Looks like your client is having some problems writing the downcall.
Perhaps there is some sort of permissions issue with your rpc_pipefs?
You might want to try stracing gssd while running it in debug mode and
see if you can see if a write syscall is failing just before the
"Failed to write downcall" message is printed.
If so then you can have a look at the permissions on that pipefs file
and see if you can tell why...
