Well, I think about the same time as Linux CDDLs their stuff. :->

When I joined Sun, as near as I can tell, their large namespaces
were the same as what Linux has today - i.e., probably in the
double digits at best.

Based on testing we did with the code, they would have been
hearing about it if anyone had much more.

Whether it is zfs or some other filesystem, you will start to
hit this problem.
