Hi Marc,
Yes, this worked for me. Do you have the latest checkin I made to the
code yesterday (fixing the corruption)? I don't believe this will make a
difference though (since the code is invoked in the read/write path,
*after* layoutget succeeds)

I just tried to run pNFS 2.6.17 and it did not work. Did any one got it
to work with the file protocol? 
I tried mount and read, it did get the device list but it never
requested the layout from the MDS it was just hang.

On another subject, just before moving to 2.6.17 I applied the 1MB
read/write patch from Greg Banks at it seemed to work fine, so if know
one objects I would like to apply it to 2.6.17. One problem that I saw
testing with 1MB read size is that the client ignored the stripe unite
that the MDS specified in the layout stripe unit and used the 1MB read
size which is wrong.
