[pnfs] Rahul's patches

After fixing a problem with the Connectathon test (it was compiling a
program and getting unexpected warnings) and doing a 'git fetch origin' I
was able to run the Connectathon test against an MDS with two DSs. I also
tried to reproduce the old problem that I saw by writing some big files
but I was not able to.
