[pnfs] Newbie Question

Hi,
The ls-remote worked, but the clone failed with:
iyer at uranium ~/trygit $ git clone git ls-remote
git://linux-nfs.org/~iyer/linux.git
Initialized empty Git repository in /home/iyer/trygit/ls-remote/.git/
fatal: 'git': unable to chdir or not a git archive
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fetch-pack from 'git' failed.
